Three-position magnetically held solenoid toggle switch with a locking lever, one solenoid-held position and one maintained position - in the style of the parking brake / anti-skid control found in F-16 cockpits.
A three-position toggle switch with SPDT contacts and a locking lever, function (ON)-OFF-ON. The centre OFF position is maintained. One outer position is momentary and spring-loaded, held in place by a holding solenoid, and is locked out of the centre — the lever has to be pulled out of the lock by approximately 2mm and then moved to engage it. The opposite position is a conventional maintained position and is not locked, so the lever moves freely between it and OFF.
That asymmetry is exactly what a parking brake / anti-skid style control needs in F-16 style cockpits: one selection guarded and held only while the system energises it, the other selected and left in place.
The solenoid is driven by a low-dropout regulator with an enable/shutdown input, with a flyback diode built in to protect the circuit, and a limit switch prevents the solenoid from energising unless the lever is physically in that position. Supplied with a stainless steel M12x0.75mm panel bushing, hex nut, washer, tooth-style lock washer and a wire-to-board connector lead. Currently available as a 12V unit.
Note: may not be compatible with Opencockpits IOCards, as the solenoid and switch circuits share the same ground.
